David Thomas: Moving Times
This publication documents David Thomas: Moving Times, an exhibition of paintings and photopaintings at Block Projects, Melbourne (October – November, 2020). It includes large paintings, primarily monochromatic in nature, large scale photopaintings from the ongoing Impermanences Series, and smaller photopaintings from the Water/Wash Series. These are accompanied by commentaries by the artist on selected works in the exhibition.
Moving Times includes documentation of key exhibitions and projects since 2016, brought together in print for the first time to contextualise the exhibition; Selections From The Book Of Titles, 1990-2020, an ongoing project by Thomas that employs the titles of his works to form a poem/essay; and essays by Professor David Cross and Jeremy Kibel of Block Projects.
